Trip out to Arizona - Thurs

We had to leave our house this morning around 4 am to be at the airport & get checked in on time. Thank goodness the Starbucks was open on concourse T!!! There were several of "us" on the flight out to the game. Our flight out through Dallas/Ft Worth was on time and we actually arrived early! I was able to hit McDonald's and get some breakfast and more coffee. We got to check with my parents and see how the morning went, things went great. Then we boarded the plane to Phoenix. That flight went well and we actually arrived on time! I actually got 279 pages of my book read (only 31 pages left!)! Eric was fussing that I brought two books with me! I might get both read.

We got our luggage & then went & got our rental car, a mustang. It was either a mustang or a van; we went with the mustang. Then we ventured out and decided to hit the section of Tempe called "The Mill"; it's pretty much a downtown type place with lots of stores & places to eat & drink. It was 10:30 here, but we were hungry & ready for lunch and thank goodness the steak & cheese place Eric wanted to try was open. It was very good and one of the best steak & cheese's I've ever had. We met some ASU students there and they were very nice. By this point basically the only people walking around the Mill district is UGA fans and very few ASU students and people that work in that area. It's really nice and we'll be there again while we are here.

It is very hot here but when you are in the shade it doesn't feel that bad. It was 92 at 11 am here and the sun beating down on you is pretty bad, but if you can find shade, it's not too bad. Eric said if we had been at home he would have been drenched in sweat, but not here, since it's a dry heat. Of course we didn't have sunscreen on, so we think we've already gotten some sunscreen on.

We've gotten checked in our hotel and the room is nice, since it's a suite. We're staying at Spring Hill Suites, so they are all the same. We're near lots of stuff and I've already scoped out my run for tomorrow morning.

We drove around a little bit more and stopped at the local park on the river. Then we headed back to the room to get a little rest so we wouldn't fall asleep during our dinner.

Okay, I'm really tired so the last portion of our day will be short. We hit downtown Scottsdale for our evening and rode on the trolley around town. We found fellow UGA fans through out the town and heard that the Delta flight out of Atl ran out of liquor! How funny! We went to the Rusty Bar Saloon since they have the coldest beer in town (they used to be a bank, so their cooler is the old vault). Well their kitchen was closed and I was hungry! We meet some other UGA fans and talk to them and end up leaving the saloon to go eat dinner down the street. After we almost went to a place called Pink Pony Steakhouse!! Well we were having a good dinner when two women sit across from us and say they are here for the game also. Well it turns out that it's Matthew Stafford's mom & his aunt! They were very nice and Matthew looks like his Mom.

I'll post the few pics tomorrow that I took today.
